Feminist frequency is a youtube channel run by Anita Sarkeesian, a feminists gamer. Anita did a kickstarter to gain enough money to launch her mission. The mission is to spread the word about sexism, and more importantly, about feminism. This video about the Hunger Games, book v.s. movie, and we encourage you to watch it, if you like it, you should really check out her youtube channel, Feminist Frequency.
These videos are really awesome and she really covers all the bases, she talks about how these things effect the growth and development of girls, but she also talks about how the result of a lot of this is basically saying that boys can't be compassionate or caring.
In our school, we did a unit on feminism and sexism, we watched a lot of Feminist Frequency, and we learned a lot about the inequalities of the modern day. Some of the other kids in our class also made websites on weebly or webs, so you should also check out teenfeminists.webs.com, a website created by one of our friends.
We are only three middle schoolers, but our mission is to make the tiniest dent in sexism. there are some people who make HUGE holes in sexism, so we will try to direct you to them, as well as try to make our own dents. I would also like to point you towards Tavi Gevinson and her website www.rookiemag.com, we would also like you to check out this ted talk that she did.
